Hey! It's been a very long time since my last update here. In fact, I've only posted two updates this year so far—and it's already August! So, I wanted to write something for those who don't follow me on Twitter and Facebook or don't follow the email newsletter. (Do it, you know you want to!) I'll make it quick, I swear!
A Boy Possessed is out now! Do you like The Exorcist? Are you a fan of my supernatural books, like Her Suffering and Madness at Madison Mall? If so, then I think you'll like this one. Scattershot is now available for pre-order, releasing on September 13th. (the day after my birthday *wink, wink*) If you've been waiting for my return to extreme horror, this is it. It's a very violent and disturbing book. If you're not into serial killers, I'll be releasing a new cannibal horror book titled City of Hunger on October 11th. Off the top of my head, you can think of it as Children of the Corn meets The Hills Have Eyes. This one is also very gruesome.
In November, I should be releasing a book titled Dr. Sadist. This is another standalone book in my 'Snuff Network' series, which includes Mr. Snuff and Ms. Vengeance. You do not have to read the previous books in order to read this one, though. That's the great thing about standalones. Dr. Sadist will be my longest book to date. And, it will most likely be my most violent book ever. I'm not trying to hype it up, I'm just telling it how it is. The first six chapters alone are incredibly violent. Keep your eyes peeled for this one.
In December, I might be taking a little break from the horror genre. I wrote a book earlier this year about a teacher who tries to find justice for a student who was attacked in a school bathroom. It has similar tones to my book The Law of Retaliation, but it's mostly a dark and disturbing mystery book. But, if you enjoy my books, I think you'll still like this one. It has some very violent surprise that I don't want you to miss and I just think it's a great story. Please give it a chance when it releases.
I'm still undecided when it comes to 2019, although I already have a book written for next year. Part of me wants to experiment with new subgenres within extreme horror, part of me wants to continue writing some of the same old stuff ("if it ain't broken, yadda yadda..."), and part of me wants to write bigger, more daring books, meaning I would stick to the same formula but make the books more epic. Of course, if I went with the latter, that would probably mean I couldn't release a book every month next year. So, I have some decisions to make.
Regardless, I think 2019 is going to be a good year. And I hope you've enjoyed my releases so far this year. Thanks for reading! I always appreciate it!

Writing Updates for August 2017—Still writing!
Hey! It's been a while since the last update, hasn't it? Well, here it is! I'll try to keep it short and simple.
Let's start with new releases. My latest horror-thriller, The Law of Retaliation, released a few weeks ago. It's a brutal, fast-paced novel for fans of revenge stories. If you haven't read it, you should definitely give it a peek. At the end of this month, I'll also be releasing Cannibal Creek for Kindle. Can't wait that long? Well, you can buy the paperback for $9.99 right now! If you love hardcore slashers, don't miss this one. It features some of my most detailed, gruesome death scenes.
Next month, I'll be releasing a book titled Rotten Apples. The book follows a pair of brothers, Jacob and Kevin. On Jacob's thirteenth birthday, he discovers Kevin is a serial killer. Kevin doesn't hurt Jacob, though. Instead, Kevin tries to teach him about the world in order to mold him into a serial killer. Jacob, however, struggles with his conscience. The story asks: can one rotten apple spoil the whole barrel? You'll find out on September 28th when this book releases.
In October, I'll be releasing another slasher tentatively titled Saliva. (That title will change before release.) The book follows two groups of friends who become stranded on a desolate Texas road. On that road, they find themselves targeted by a deranged serial killer who wants to drink their saliva. Sick, right? In November, I'm releasing a big book—a special book. It's about a woman who was wronged—to put it lightly—by a gang of men. She decides to get her vengeance the old fashioned way: vigilante justice. I already know December's book, too. I'll share more on that at a later date, though.
I've already finished the first draft for the first two books of 2018 and I'm working on the outline for the third book now. So, as you can see, I'm still writing. I hope you've been enjoying the books. As usual, thanks for reading. Your support has been invaluable!
Until next time,
Jon Athan

Writing Updates for June 2017—Upcoming books, new releases, and so on!
Hello, again! It's been a few months since the last update. Once again, let me remind you: if you want more frequent but shorter updates, please like my Facebook page. If you do that, you'll stay up-to-date on my latest books and musings. So, what have I been working on?
First and foremost, I just released Madness at Madison Mall. This is a psychological-supernatural horror novel inspired by Stephen King's The Shining and Silent Hill, and a few of you have already enjoyed it. If you haven't checked it out and you're interested, now's your chance. On July 6th, 2017, I'll be releasing The Social Media Murders. This slasher novel is inspired by Wes Craven's Scream and Dario Argento's classic horror films. If you can't wait to read it, it's available now in paperback form.
I'm currently editing my next book, which is titled The Law of Retaliation. This book will release on August 3rd, 2017. This is a horror-thriller inspired by Jeremy Saulnier's Green Room. It will feature some of my most brutal deaths ever. If you love the brutality of my past books, you don't want to miss this one. It'll be available for pre-order soon, so keep your eyes peeled. (And like that Facebook page so you're the first to know!)
I'm also re-writing the first draft of my next release, which is a cannibal horror novel. This book was inspired by another Wes Craven film, The Hills Have Eyes. However, my book takes place in the woods. I'd also argue that my story is a lot more brutal. I'm not restricted by the MPAA, so I have the freedom to create some very violent death scenes. If you like my other slashers, like Butcher Road or Camp Blaze, you'll love this one.
Of course, there are plenty of other books coming out this year. In fact, I'm currently writing the first draft of November's novel. I'll share more details on those projects in the near-future.
Those are all of the updates I have for you now. While you wait for more releases and updates, you should check out some of my older books. And, if you like my books, please leave a review. I really appreciate it! Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
Jon Athan

Writing Updates for April 2017—Current projects and new releases!
It's been a while, hasn't it? Sorry for the lack of writing updates. If you want frequent updates, please like my Facebook page. Everyone's talking about it! (Not really, but I appreciate it.) Anyway, I've been busy with new books, marketing, and taxes. You're probably only interested in the books, though, so let's jump into it.
On April 7th, 2017, I'm releasing Mason's Television. This book follows thirteen-year-old Mason, who talks to his television—and his television talks back. Using the advice from his television, Mason hurts his peers in hopes of achieving infamy. On May 7th, 2017, I'll be releasing Erotomaniac. This book follows a lonely man who stalks an innocent, unwitting woman. It's a shocking story of erotomania, unrequited love, and bloody tragedy. If you like my dark, serious human horror books, I think you'll like both of these.
In June, I'll be taking a break from extreme horror, but I'm still releasing a new book. The book is titled Madness at Madison Mall (that title might change) and it should be available for pre-order near the end of April or towards the beginning of May. The book follows a security guard who must protect an abandoned mall. Inside of the mall, he finds his worst nightmares. This is a supernatural/psychological horror novel with some disturbing scenes. Don't expect anything too hardcore. It was inspired by Stephen King's The Shining and Silent Hill.
I'm currently in the process of re-writing/cleaning up July's book. In July, I'll be releasing another slasher. This slasher is codenamed: SNS. The story is about a serial killer who murders high school students and uploads their deaths to popular social media websites. It is a whodunit/slasher that balances extreme horror with engaging mystery elements. It was inspired by Wes Craven's Scream and some of Dario Argento's classic movies. I'll share more about this book in the near future.
I have a few surprises planned for the second half of the year. I'm going to continue turning up the brutality to see how far I can go.
That's it for this month's updates. I hope you'll check out the new books. If you like what you read, please leave a review. It helps a lot!
Until next time,

Writing Updates for January 2017—Upcoming books, new releases, and sales!
Hey! So, I guess this is my first update of 2017. First and foremost, thank you for a wonderful year. I met many of my personal goals last year and I plan on accomplishing more this year. I don't plan on releasing more than one book per month, but I want to deliver better books—quality of quantity is my motto this year.
So, I hope my next two releases are high-quality. In February, I'm releasing my next slasher: Camp Blaze. It's a brutal slasher inspired by Friday the 13th, but it's a lot bloodier. In March, I'll be releasing The Abuse of Ashley Collins. This book takes me back to my 'human' horror roots. It's about the nasty things that people do to each other. It's probably one of the most gruesome, disturbing books I've ever written.
In April, I plan on releasing a new horror novel about a killer child. The book is about a child who speaks to his television—a television that convinces him to kill. It has many themes that reflect society and it never compromises on its brutality. In May, I plan on releasing a stalker horror novel. My first ever stalker book will focus more on disturbing themes and creepy scenes, but, due to some of its graphic violence, I think it still qualifies as 'extreme horror.'
I'm still scheduling summer's schedule. I want to release a psychological horror novel in June, then release another slasher in July. That's what I'm leaning towards anyway.
That's about it for my updates. I'm also having a sale for the next two weeks—99-cent books! You can check out more details about the sale on Facebook. Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
Jon Athan

Writing Updates for December 2016 — "Bad Appetites" is available for pre-order!
Long time, no see! First and foremost, sorry for the lack of updates on this blog. I've been very busy these past few months. I'm a one-man team, so it's difficult to keep track of everything. If you're interested in more frequent updates, you should like my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter. I'll try to keep those updated. Enough apologies, though. Let's get to some quick and efficient book updates.
Bad Appetites is available for pre-order now. This is a body horror novel about a young woman who discovers miracle weight loss pills. All is well until the pills start changing her body, mind, and appetite for the worst... This book is a little different from my usual. The first act works more as a psychological horror/drama while the rest is a traditional grotesque body horror story. If you're tired of my serial killer books, this might be a breath of fresh air for you.
Bad Appetites is out January 7th, 2017, available for $2.99 or free through Kindle Unlimited.
In February, I'll be releasing a slasher novel called Camp Blaze. I've been trying not to spoil much with this one. If you're familiar with my work, this is a slasher like Butcher Road. However, I think this new book is more violent than my previous slasher. It also takes some interesting turns towards the end. Some readers might dislike the grand finale, but, again, I think it's a breath of fresh air. I'll be sharing more details soon. (And I'll continue trying to keep spoilers to myself.)
Also, if you liked my Facebook page, you probably already know what's coming in March 2017: The Abuse of Ashley Collins. This book will take me back to my roots of human horror. It's about the nasty stuff people do to each other. Like some of my other books, this novel will have a subtle message in it, too. It's a very violent and disturbing book, but I'm really trying to say something about abuse — particularly, I'm talking about the cycle of abuse. I think it'll be a powerful book.
I already finished the first draft for April's book. It's also very disturbing and even distressing. I'm currently working on May's book, which is a stalker story.
Anyway, I think that's a large enough update. I'll be back to share details on future releases. I'll try to keep this blog updated, too. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great 2017!
Until next time,
Jon Athan
